I've been enjoying a little bit of Italian sunshine so have had to miss two Weekly Wellness emails (sorry guys!). I really did miss putting pen to paper (figuratively speaking), which might explain my impulse purchase at the airport of 'Let It Out: A Journey Through Journaling' by Katie Dalebout.
I have always dabbled in journalling, and kept a fair few diaries as a child. Reading these back always makes me laugh. Things that seemed so important all those years ago seem very trivial now. I think there's a life lesson in there somewhere...
I do thank my younger self for documenting the little adventures of my life, though, and always think to myself 'I should do this more'.
Yet as an adult I find it almost impossible to make journalling a habit, which is why I bought Katie's book. She describes the practice as a way to unclog your mind and gain clarity.
As a manic multi-tasker, a bit of clarity can only be a good thing for me! The book is full of journalling prompts and I've started working my way through them. Clarity here we come!
It was lovely to take a break from the stresses of everyday life whilst in Italy but I couldn't switch off completely and found myself hunting out wellness trends down the cobbled streets. I managed to squeeze in 4 early morning runs along the coast and saw A LOT of other runners, as well as plenty of fisherman with their morning catch, unloading their boats and stitching up holes in their nets by hand. I found tea in a country full of coffee, and spotted aloe vera leaves in the vegetable section of Italian supermarkets. Now that is a wellness trend I'd like to see in the UK.
